Susan Haynes Biography
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Susan Haynes never told anybody in her family that she wanted to be a singer. However, she moved
to Nashville after high school and enrolled in college. As a freshman, she landed an internship at BNA Records in the A&R
department. After graduation, she helped manage James Stroud's Loud Recording Studio.
One day, Haynes was typing up a lyric for a male R&B artist in the studio and was singing the song to help her type it
from memory. The artist told Stroud, who then told Haynes, When you do something, I want to hear about it.
After her brief marriage dissolved, Haynes decided to pursue a career as a professional singer. Record producer Dann Huff
heard her demos and offered to work with her, but then his own career took off (notably at the controls of Faith Hill's album,
Faith). Haynes bided her time by honing her writing skills.
Finally, she entered the studio with Huff with new material. Five songs she co-wrote ended up on her debut album, Crooked
Little Heart, which will be released by Epic Nashville in early 2006.
